Biopolymers
We are representing GAIA Biomaterials, a well known company with a strong position in the field of Biodegradable polymers and compounds.
GAIA markets its product under the name ”BIODOLOMER”. This stands for innovative solutions, and several patents are linked to the name.
By using natural additives, and minerals we increase the level of renewable content as well as, adding technical and process advantages for the converter and end customer.
We think outside the box!
It is important to embrace other routes than the obvious, and we do this by supplying the resin for bags, and small pouches, with an unbeaten processability.
Sealing speed, ease to take in the material in the process and down gauging are such properties, highly appreciated by the converters.
Increasing temperature resistance is another scope. One Grade for trays, supersede traditional polymers and biopolymers, and ex Micro wave oven may be used for fast food.
Compostability, is a necessity for us and we comply with TuV certifications, for Home compostability up to 70 microns, and Industrial compostability up to 1000 mm.
So why Biodegradation?
Use of packaging is still increasing. Waste handling needs options. More sorting/separation lines are installed to divide Post consumer waste into different fractions.
Biodegradable may easily be a part of this since it, just as any other plastics, will be read by the NIR (Near infra red), and consequently easily collected.
This fraction can be composted, as well be reused as a fraction into virgin material. In fact it gives us two options:
• Collected with food waste, it may be composted together with food waste, and the separation phase is avoided.
• When found in nature,- pick it up, and never put it there. But if the accident already done it will degrade much faster than traditional materials, and in a long term not create microplastics.
Carbon Foot print is strongly debated, we do our part:
- Our resins gives less CO2 compared to traditional plastics, because is containing less carbon atoms.
- We reduce the level of fossil, by adding renewable polymers as well as renewable additives.
- Our resins may be used for any process, such as Extrusion, Extrusion coating, Injection molding, Sheets and Thermoforming. EFE stands for ”everything for everyone”. We will make this happen, together with our customers.
